Installation Guide: Permanent Static Steel BollardsThis guide covers the two most common installation methods for RICJ Static Bollards: Deep-Burial (In-Ground) for maximum security and Surface-Mount (Bolt-Down) for quick deployment.
Best for anti-ram protection and perimeter defense.
Mark the center of each bollard location. Dig a hole approximately 400mm-600mm deep (depending on the bollard height) and 300mm wide.
Pour 50mm of gravel or crushed stone at the bottom of the hole to allow for water drainage and prevent internal corrosion of the bollard base.
Place the static bollard into the hole. Use a spirit level to ensure the post is perfectly vertical.
Fill the hole with high-strength concrete (Grade C30 or higher recommended). Use a vibration rod to remove air bubbles.
Allow 24-48 hours for the concrete to fully cure before removing support braces.
Best for traffic control on pre-existing concrete slabs or sidewalks.
Position the bollard base plate on the concrete. Mark the positions of the mounting holes.
Use a rotary hammer drill with a masonry bit (typically 12mm-16mm depending on the bolt size) to drill holes to the required depth.
Use a blow pump or vacuum to remove all dust and debris from the holes. This is critical for bolt adhesion.
Insert mechanical expansion bolts or chemical anchors. Place the bollard over the holes and tighten the nuts firmly using a torque wrench.
For pedestrian safety while blocking vehicles, maintain a clear distance of 1.2 meters to 1.5 meters between bollards.
If installing multiple units, use a string line to ensure all bollards are perfectly aligned in a straight row.
Always check for underground utilities (electricity, water, gas) before digging or drilling.
After installation, wipe down the 304/316 stainless steel surface with a specialized cleaner to remove any construction dust or fingerprints.
